After surgery, you will be taken to recovery for about an hour. After recovery, you will be taken to your room on 3 West. At this point your family may see you again. After surgery, you will feel groggy and sleepy. If you are hungry, a meal will be provided. After resting for the afternoon, dinner will be served. You are encouraged to sit up while eating dinner. Later in the evening you may get up out of bed, depending on your progress.

The next day, physical therapy begins after breakfast. After lunch there is more physical therapy. Most patients are sent home the second evening, so after the second round of physical therapy the doctor may sign off and you can go home! Individuals respond and recover from surgery in different ways. This is an illustration of a typical experience.
